The life of expatriate is surrounded by myths and clichés: no, all those who live far from France do not necessarily drive on gold. On the other hand, in this country, to settle there allows you to live well even with a modest salary.

Many are convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere … Living and working far from France, its taxes and its taxes, would allow you to get out of it. And even more when you have the chance to expatriate to go and work in another country. This is for example the case for those who make finance in Singapore or Switzerland. But without going through the mobility box via his employer, there is also a country where to expatriate by oneself to live comfortably without winning a fortune.

It is indeed, the result of a whole new study which has just appeared, conducted by insurer William Russell on the basis of his internal data and those of several areas including the cost of living in 2025, of Numbeo. To draw up this ranking, they took into account several criteria: the cost of rents, the price of transport, those of health and medical coverage, the price of food etc. And, the first surprise, the top 3 of 2025 has nothing to do with that of last year. The previous trio was as follows from the last to the first step of the podium: Brazil, Indonesia and Türkiye.

In 2025, if you dream of a comfortable living environment but you do not want to leave all your salary there, there are several countries to expatriate. This time, in 3rd place we find India. Then, the silver medal is attributed to Bolivia. As for the country number 1, there, you can very well live with 500 to 800 euros per month. And, on the rent side, you will be surprised! For an apartment with a bedroom, count $ 360 per month, or 260 euros. And if you settle in it with your family, table more on 800 dollars per month, or 695 euros, for a house with three bedrooms. Enough to make Parisians fade with envy … It is Vietnam.

A lifestyle about 59% cheaper than in Europe and equivalent, even superior services, is therefore what Vietnam offers to its expatriates, wherever they come from. Moreover, the country has become one of the flagship destinations among Digital Nomad. Many of them have already settled there in recent years. It must be said that it allows you to visit other neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Thailand or Malaysia.

And it is the Da Nang metropolis, and its beaches as far as the eye can see, which is today the cheapest in the country, and which attracts very many Westerners. In addition, the insurer recalls that you can drink and eat there for only a dollar. You just have to take the plunge!
