This basic of everyday life can, by itself, transform a fresh piece into a real concentrate of dubious odors. And as we do not suspect, he stays there, in his place, all summer.

When it is hot, smells intensify. It’s mechanical. The heat accelerates the decomposition of organic matter, the multiplication of bacteria, and therefore, emanations. A continuous ventilated apartment is not always enough to compensate. Stagnant humidity, dragging shoes, food residues, animal hair … All these elements play a role, but some objects literally fix the bad odors. And among them, there is one that broke all records.

Indeed, when the air becomes heavier, this type of textile becomes a sponge. He imprisoned hints, amplifies them sometimes and therefore becomes a home of persistent odors. The problem is all the more present in summer, because the windows are generally open, so the back and forth of dust and other residues are more frequent. All these particles end up depositing and encrusted. Result: a vague withdrawal perfume, sometimes a mold of mold, even a downright unpleasant odor as soon as you enter the room.

You should also know that most models are made of synthetic fibers. However, these fibers tend to more easily remember the volatile organic compounds. Conversely, natural fiber models, such as coconut or sea rush, get out a little better, provided they are often cleaned. But they are not magic either. Concretely, leaving any textile in the same place for weeks without maintaining it always leads to the same result.

To remedy this, it is not a question of banishing this kind of object of the house, but of treating it as a living textile. It must therefore be washed or at least shaken and exposed to the sun regularly. Direct light, combined with hot and dry air, helps destroy part of the bacteria and molds responsible for odors. The sun is not everything, but it’s a start. And if the smell persists, a lifting with lukewarm water with a little white vinegar may be enough. The object in question? The entrance carpet.

To summarize, if you want to keep a carpet inside, prefer a machine washable in the machine, with low fiber density, which you can go into machine without it being damaged. Otherwise, a simple option: not put anything at all and clean the floor more often in this specific location. It will not be less clean, quite the contrary.
