The family already lived in this house in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The roof had been leaking for a very long time, so the couple said to themselves: even if it meant repairing it, why not take the opportunity to raise it? This was the opportunity to have a second living room area with kitchen and above all a terrace. “Their existing living room, on the ground floor, already overlooked the garden. They thus benefited from an exterior, but what they were looking for was more sun and they got it thanks to this terrace”explains architect Camille Hermand, in charge of the project. As they have teenagers, they were also happy to have two separate reception areas: one for the children with their friends and another for them with their friends.
With the elevation, the floor below has been redesigned
On the second floor of the house was the master bedroom with a bathroom. “When we raise the height, we redo the high floors of the floor below, because it is not made to support the weight of a new floor. We therefore redid them and took the opportunity to renovate the entire parental space”the architect tells us. It was also necessary to extend the staircase to reach the new floor. As for decoration, it was the client who took care of it, says Camille Hermand. “She is a ceramist and crazy about decoration. A compulsive collector, she hunts for incredible pieces. Her request was just to have some extra space and to be able to fit all her things in there.” This is also why its accommodation with its two exteriors and lounges is unlike any other. It also has this charm of having very strong pieces mixed together in perfect harmony.
