Many of them are welcomed with great enthusiasm from users, and one of them is reacting a lot, when it is not yet available. But what generates such enthusiasm? According to the media BloombergApple is about to set up the automatic translation of conversations with its airpods. For example, if a French -speaking exchange with a person speaking only English, his iPhone will translate the conversation in real time and will transmit the words of his interlocutor translated into his headphones, and vice versa if the other is equipped with the same devices. There will therefore be no need to exchange the phone whenever someone speaks, as is currently the case with most current live translation applications.
Note that this function has already been available for 4 years with Google Buds pixels, but that users criticize it due to activation difficulty and bad translation. Samsung also offers it with its Galaxy Buds. In both cases, the audio is divided between the headphones and the speaker of the phone, while Apple would seek to offer a more fluid experience, without manual adjustments.
The translation via the AirPods should be linked to the future update of the iPhone operating system, iOS 19. For the moment, Apple has not announced a precise date for its implementation. However, it would seem that this feature will be presented at least in June 2025, during the annual conference of the brand, then it should be made available by the end of the year.
It remains to be seen if this new option will hold its promises and will be able to forget the failures of the competing models. By focusing on a more intuitive interface and extensive integration between its devices, Apple could once again impose its vision of the future.
