All new smartphones will have to display this label. What will it serve?
Who has never been lost one day by choosing a new phone? Between the hundreds of models available for sale, the sometimes incomprehensible technical sheets, contradictory opinions and prices that vary enormously, it is easy to feel outdated and not to succeed in deciding. If you recognize yourself, rest assured: new European regulations will soon change the situation. Indeed, as early as June 20, 2025, phones sellers will have to affix a new label next to each device in order to guide the customer in their choice.
As with household appliances for several years, all smartphones for sale, whether recent or not, will now have to display an energy label. This will indicate the energy efficiency of the models by classifying them with the famous letters from A to G. It will also have to specify the level of resistance to falls, the repairability index, the battery life, the index index protection against water and dust infiltrations. Precious information in short, allowing the consumer to assess, among other things, the autonomy and sustainability of a smartphone.
For customers, but also for manufacturers, it is a real revolution. The selling devices will have to take tests to be classified according to the criteria mentioned above. No more false promises! The European Commission proposed this energy labeling of smartphones on June 16, 2023. The year 2025 will be that of the application of the measures.
In addition, this new regulation also concerns digital tablets. The long -term objective is to improve the sustainability of these electronic devices and that they are designed to be energy efficient.
