Have you ever noticed black marks in your home? It is very likely that it is mold. This mushroom, not very pretty, is above all very bad for your health. On the ARS (Regional Health Agency) website, we can read that when mold develops, it disperses particles (spores) into the ambient air that we risk breathing and which could cause health problems. The risks are the development and exacerbation of asthma as well as allergic rhinitis. They are therefore not only unsightly.
But why do we have this mushroom? The main cause is humidity. This is a sign of poor ventilation. It is also common to find them in bathrooms or under windows. This is a problem not to be taken lightly. The ARS recommends numerous actions to prevent their occurrence, such as limiting the duration of showers in order to reduce the quantity of water vapor produced, wiping the shower walls as well as the edge of the bathtub, but also the joints in order to keep them clean and dry, and ventilating the windows thoroughly for at least 10 minutes per day.
If, despite these precautions, mold appears, it is important to remove it as quickly as possible. Several solutions are proposed and some require vigorous scrubbing. What if we had another technique made up of two easy-to-find ingredients, which does not give off unpleasant scents and above all which erases them effortlessly? This is precisely what Kamila from @kamila_solutions suggests. In an empty spray bottle, pour 1 glass of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 1 teaspoon of tea tree essential oil. Spray the mixture on the mold, cover with a tissue and spray again so that it is thoroughly soaked. Leave on for 30 minutes. You remove the tissue and the mold will come off naturally. All you have to do is rinse with water and you’re done. Practical, easy and effective, that’s everything we love.
This method works particularly well on hard, non-porous surfaces such as tiles, bathroom grout, glass or even certain plastics. On the other hand, it should be avoided on porous materials such as raw wood, fabrics or fragile painted walls, which can absorb the product or deteriorate. In all cases, do a test on a small, discreet area before applying more widely to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
