A Wax fabric decoration or nothing
He started by instilling a breath of freshness in fashion, he had to do the same with the decor! Since spring 2016, theWax printnew darling of our interiors, is found on our cushions, our poufs or our bed linen, and we want more. But where does this fabric come from which do not go unnoticed? If you come across it regularly and for decades in the streets of Dakar or Johannesburg, it is in Indonesia that you have to go get its origins. This is indeed that in the 19th century English and Dutch settlers were Inspired by Javanese Batik Teint (hence the name “wax” which means “wax” in English) to create their own colorful fabrics. These fabrics soon seduced the Ghanaian soldiers who then fight alongside the Dutch: they bring them home and the great love story between Africa and the Wax fabric can begin! If it was at the time entirely handcrafted, the Wax fabric is now most often made thanks to a machine which first affixes a wax on both sides of the cotton fabric then secondary colors to make patterns thanks to print boards.

How to integrate the Wax fabric into its decor?
We must admit, these motifs and these bright colors have sometimes made us a little fierce in mode as in decoration, but today we are more and more gagas. Inspired by this African heritage with a thousand and one colors, Red Castle House celebrates the eponymous district through fashion and decoration creations that revisit the Wax fabric from every angle. Proof of the success encountered, Monoprix signed, not one, but two collaborations (in 2018 then in 2021) with the Parisian brand and everything was to die for!

Another brand to follow if you want to shop pretty revisits from the African trend? Ayelefleurialaunched by flower. Cushions, edges, caches and tote bags are made in small series and by hand from Wax fabrics from Benin and Togo by people with disabilities or reintegration. As for table linen, it is produced by Beninese craftsmen. A united approach that we salute and supports.

If you still hesitate and don’t know how to integrate the Wax fabric in style in your interior, start small touches : Two cushions to brighten up a neutral sofa, table sets to energize a little too wise dishes or even an electric bedroom to bring in summer. We can stop there and our home will have already won in personality, but we can go further By combining our Wax decor with complementary bright colors without patterns. In both cases, good humor will be there anyway.
Another solution: you can simply buy a few meters of wax print fabric and make DIY decor or dress your armchairs and sofas for an ephemeral decoration that you will always be able to change later.
