Burn 1,000 calories in less than an hour without spending hours on a treadmill or lifting weights? This is what this sport offers, already adopted by thousands of practitioners.
Behind these impressive figures, there is a completely redesigned training concept. More than a simple sport, it is a discipline that mixes different approaches to solicit the entire body in a minimum of time. Cardio, muscle strengthening and coordination are on the program, all in music to keep a dynamic engaging. “It is a complete training that combines contactless boxing, functional training and rhythmic music for an immersive and ultra dynamic experience”, Explains Marisa Dias, master trainer specializing in this discipline. Here, no fight, but a connected bag on which everyone sends their blows by following an ultra rhythmic program
Each session lasts 47 minutes and follows a well -defined structure. We start with a 5-minute warm-up to prepare the body for effort, before continuing in 10 minutes of intense muscle strengthening: squats, burs, pumps, sheathing … The objective is to pre-activate the muscles before the central training phase. For 25 minutes, the practitioners chain fists of fists and feet in music, all on a connected bag which measures the power and precision of the blows. Finally, 7 minutes of stretching allow you to descend in intensity and avoid aches.
The question that intrigues everyone: how can only one fitboxing session allow to spend up to 1000 calories? Marisa Dias who works at Brooklyn Fitboxing decrypts this figure: “Energy expenditure depends on several factors: intensity of effort, morphology and physical condition. The estimate of up to 1000 calories is based on measurements made with heart sensors and studies on HIIT and boxing training.” In other words, the more we give ourselves, the more we burn. The Afterburn effect also plays an essential role: thanks to the alternation between cardio and muscle strengthening, the body continues to consume energy several hours after effort.
And the results are not long in coming. In just three to four weeks, two to three weekly sessions, the first effects appear. “The benefits include a refinement and toning of the arms, legs and trunk, a reduction in fat and better posture”, specifies Marisa Dias. The intensity of the strikes also makes it possible to gain endurance and explosiveness, while strengthening of sheathing helps to reduce back pain.
But those who get the best results are those who fully engage in their practice. “The people who progress the most are those who train regularly, adopt a balanced diet and give everything at each session by challenging themselves on the scores of the connected bag”, details the specialist. The program gamification pushes to go always further and makes every session motivating.
Fitboxing is an explosive mix between boxing and functional training: without fighting, but with a formidable intensity the effort is short, but effective, perfect for those who want to let off steam in a minimum of time while sculpting their body.
