Sometimes a small annoyance or a moment of boredom is enough for the call of the cake cupboard to become irresistible. However, there is a simple method to help you limit these food drives.

Contrary to what we believe, cravings are not always linked to a real energy need. Very often, they are caused by an emotional overflow, stress or even boredom. For example, when the nervous system is in alert mode, the body seeks to calm with automatic behaviors. Eating then becomes a quick way to calm down. But this strategy only rejects the problem. The good news? There is an instinctive gesture and accessible to everyone that can help you stop your snacking desires.

If you try to lose weight, you surely know it is essential to have a varied and balanced diet. The objective is not to deprive yourself, but to eat everything in reasonable quantities. If you can afford a snack, it is really important not to give in to all your food impulses during the day. To limit these compulsive desires, know that there is a technique that will only take you a few seconds.

The desires to snack are rarely due to hunger. They often respond to internal tension. The body then seeks a rapid form of relief through sweet or fatty foods. It is here that the shaking can intervene: in the pre-circuit the emotional rise by a bodily activation, it diverts the attention of the brain and calms the autonomic nervous system, the very one which triggers these reflex desires. Shaking consists of making movements of shaking or body vibrations standing or seated, for 30 seconds at 2 minutes, the ideal being around 60 seconds. The idea? Move in a fluid, released, sometimes almost instinctive. Shaking is part of a bodily logic: we act on the body to appease the mind. This approach is consistent with different theories validated by neurosciences such as the versatile theory of Stephen Porges which explains how rhythmic physical movements can calm the autonomous nervous system, but also on the principles of the Tre method: Trauma Relauding Exemples from Dr. David Berceli, which use induced tremors to release somatic tensions. Here is how to practice this method effectively: get standing, feet apart at the width of hips. Let your arms hang, release the jaw and shoulders. Start making your legs, your pool, your arms gently vibrate or shake your legs. Some people associate shaking with a visualization: “I shake my desire“,”I release tension “,” I come back to my body“.

Free, without contraindications, achievable anywhere, shaking stands out as a reflex gesture to adopt when you feel a compulsive food desire. It does not replace a global approach to the food relationship, but it can become a simple and powerful tool to use “in an emergency”.
