The client, a friend of the architect, greatly appreciated the work. She who has the art and the way of making each home unique with her touch: an original and colorful style. This is precisely why he called on Célia Reubrecht, in order to “give back an identity to the place knowing that it was an apartment that belonged to his family and that it was a bit in its own right. He wanted to spruce it up, decorate it and arrange it better,” she tells us. Indeed, this 80 m² apartment was a little cold. The building dates from the 70s and this was felt in the rooms, typical of that era, very standardized, low ceilings, with strip windows. Besides that, the accommodation had many qualities: it is on the 8th floor with a clear view, long balconies, two bedrooms, a star plan and good-sized rooms.
Bringing warmth without too much cost
The client found this place too bland and hoped to make it less impersonal thanks to the Craie.craie Architecture team. He had complete confidence in them and therefore gave them carte blanche. He wasn’t afraid of major work, but didn’t have the budget to break down a wall and completely change the plan. Everything was reviewed by the team except the bathroom, which had already been transformed. The brown carpet on the floor and the marble have been changed. On the other hand, the oak herringbone parquet flooring, typical of the 70s, has been preserved. It has a lot of charm, goes very well with the colorful and pop furniture added to the rooms. No open kitchen, but a beautiful hatch-type opening in the living room which makes all the difference. Enough to highlight the sublime disco-style splashback. The architect was able to warm the whole thing up thanks to pieces in strong colors, without it shocking the eye. There are three shades that are present as a common thread in all the rooms: light blue, light green and burgundy. There are touches of cheerfulness everywhere and everything harmonizes perfectly. This before and after demonstrates that it is possible to dare to use color, without a false note and without spending your entire piggy bank. Let’s go for the visit.
