The latest trend in the world of hair care, the hair spa’s mission is to pamper the scalp. But what are these new beauty places really worth? Decryption.
What if the days of focusing on hair fiber to repair hair were over? For years now, we have focused on lengths in order to repair our mane. Masks, oil baths, conditioners… The options for nourishing hair are legion. But what if the secret to healthy hair lay in scalp care? This is the idea put forward by a protocol straight from Japan, which is becoming more and more popular in France.
The phenomenon is starting on social networks: accounts specializing in beauty are increasingly interested in scalp care. On TikTok, a multitude of ultra-soothing videos where Internet users test hair spas are flourishing. On the program? Exfoliations, head massages and specific treatments. In short, the very pinnacle of relaxation. Upon exit, hair is revitalized, shiny and supple. The enthusiasm for these places is such that many similar concepts are emerging in France.
Piqued by curiosity (and the desire to have beautiful hair), I was able to try a Parisian address. To do this, head to the Flora Lab Paris head spa at Galeries Lafayette on Boulevard Hausmann. The brand focuses on biomimetic care, with formulations rich in powerful and vegan active ingredients. The one-hour Flash Treatment begins with a diagnosis using a micro-camera which analyzes the condition of the scalp and hair fiber. The result is clear: if one regreases too quickly, the other is damaged by repeated discoloration. At least the tone is set. Before moving on to the treatments, the practitioner makes me choose the hair oil that she will use during the protocol from five scents created with the nose of the brand, Clémence Besse. For me, it will be Zanzibar, a woody, spicy and gourmand fragrance.
After a welcome massage on the shoulders and neck, the treatment can finally begin: the hair is delicately wet using a semi-circle delivering a jet of water, then the professional applies a scrub to the scalp in order to detoxify it, remove worn skin and activate blood microcirculation. Yes, just like the face, the scalp also needs to be exfoliated in order to renew itself and allow treatments to penetrate better. The detail that catches my attention? The divine smell. Before moving on, the practitioner massages the scalp using the hands, a soft bristle brush and refreshing globes. She also uses a microcurrent comb to stimulate hair growth. A true moment of relaxation and pure happiness! The treatment continues with a shampoo and a mask to which a pure ingredient booster is added. These are small drops to add to a treatment, which increase its effectiveness tenfold. For me, it will be keratin to repair the fiber damaged by years of bleaching. During the treatment, a steam machine is used, which opens the hair scales in order to better penetrate the products. To end this moment, the practitioner applies a serum to the scalp, a detox for me, and a second to the ends to nourish the fiber then the famous perfumed oil. Flora Lab Paris offers the choice between several types of brushings in order to emerge with a real star hairstyle.
Verdict? At the end of the hour, my hair is infinitely soft, light and ultra-shiny. But also and above all, they smell divinely good. Exactly like coming out of the hairdresser’s but even better. My scalp looks healthy and itch-free. Obviously, in order to make the results last, it is preferable to create an effective routine at home. But one thing is certain: this trip to the hair spa really made me realize that a healthy scalp remains the key to healthy hair. An idea that Flora Lab Paris intends to democratize.
