Over time, applying semi-permanent varnish can damage and weaken the nails. To recover them, here is the procedure to follow.
In recent years, the semi-permanent has made a real place for itself on our hands. Whether nude, neon, with nail art or chrome, it allows us to be very creative and show the world our personality. The problem? We often tend to chain together several poses (the author of these lines is no exception). A real test for our nails which come out weakened. Worse yet, if the semi-permanent polish is removed incorrectly, it becomes even more difficult to repair the damage. In short, although it is very aesthetic, it is not always an ally. But let’s not despair: there is a technique to reverse the trend and pamper our fingers.
After having removed it, in the salon of course, we let our nails breathe for several weeks or even several months. Ditch the hardener, filled with chemicals that will not help them regenerate. On the other hand, we can give them a little boost thanks to moisturizing and repairing treatments specially formulated for them. When the damage is too great, a precise technique can then come into play. His name? The IBX. It is the best treatment available today to help dry, soft, flaking and weakened nails. It strengthens them from the inside by filling gaps and cracks, creating a protective shield. First, we apply IBX Repair, a repair solution for vulnerable areas, activated under gentle heat for better penetration, followed by curing under a UV lamp. A second product called IBX Strengthen is spread with the same process. His role? Solidify the nail plate.
Directly afterwards, we already see a smoother, pinker and stronger nail. Over time, the effects are also impressive. “After 8 to 10 IBX sessions, the area is strengthened and the result is very lasting“, explains Giulia Melkonova, co-founder of the Ginger 9 salon in Paris. Very quick, the procedure lasts around 15 minutes and costs between ten and fifteen euros depending on the institute. Depending on the condition of our fingers, it is possible to carry out one session per week. We then space them out every two weeks, then once a month. The rhythm is to be defined with the nail technician.
However, the professional wants to warn: manicures between appointments should be avoided. “It’s better not to do it, at least at first. From the fifth time, you can apply classic varnish“, she continues. Now that the secret is out, we’re giving our nails a real makeover. They’re just waiting for it to shine… naturally.
