A tidy food cupboard allows us to have a good overview of what we have left and to find what we are looking for more easily as long as we do not make this common mistake.
We all have one or two food cupboards in our kitchen. It contains canned goods, pasta, cakes, chocolate and sometimes also fruits with vegetables. To save time on a daily basis, we try to optimize the space as best we can in order to be able to store as many products as possible, because it is never big enough.
Perhaps you have also decided to adopt an ecological organization by purchasing your foodstuffs in bulk and then pouring them into jars? This is a good way to reduce this waste by avoiding packaging. Another advantage is that there is no waste, because you buy precisely the quantity you need. Finally, last but not least, we save money, because bulk is often cheaper. It’s also much prettier to have transparent jars rather than packs in garish colors that don’t necessarily match. Don’t forget to label them so you know what’s inside or to know the cooking time, for example.
However, there are a few rules to know to improve your organization, and above all there is one mistake to avoid making. It was Marie Le Briand who told us what we absolutely should not do. It’s very simple, but it changes everything. It is important to choose rectangular jars that can be aligned without losing space between each other. This is not the case for round shaped ones which take up more space.
She also shares other valuable tips to copy. “I chose transparent containers to know my stock at a glance and large capacity to avoid storing the same product in two jars“, she says. Take the time to empty your cupboards”to remove expired foods and group duplicates“, she suggests.
Also pay attention to where you place the power supply. There is a logical order that Marie Le Briand from @la.maison.antonia applies in order to save time on a daily basis: “by arranging the products I use the most at the bottom and the products I use and the things I use the least above.” So what do you think? Did you already know these time and space saving tips? In any case, these arrangements are very practical on a daily basis.
