Growing up, this singer was not always proud of her first name. A mixed first name, which is today one of the most trendy first names in the young generation.

When you are a child, it is not uncommon to want to be called otherwise, or to blame your own parents for the choice of first name or his spelling. This is the case of a singer and musician, recently rewarded at the Grammy Award, who revealed to hate her first name. And for good reason: this mixed first name caused him some problems in the playground. His comrades thought it was a “Boy’s name”. “”That’s all I heard in my life. I remember being so angry, and all I wanted was a female name, like Violette or Lavender, a rather flowery first name“She said in an interview with British Vogue.

The mentalities having fortunately evolved, the mixed first names have become much more common. The singer, who is none other than Billie Ellish, has now learned to appreciate it: “There is no other name in the universe which could be my name apart Billie “she said. And that’s not all: the singer of Birds of A Feather is aware that she has inspired many parents today for the choice of their child’s first name.

In France, the first name Billie was awarded to 401 little girls in 2023, according to the latest INSEE figures. However, there were only 4 in the early 2000s. A constantly growing first name which should undoubtedly continue to break through in the coming years.

This female diminutive of the first name William has Germanic origins and it appeared in France in the 1980s. It means “protector” and “resolved”, specifies the official first names (First editions). It also appears in the national top 200. Opinion for future parents looking for a nice mixed first name for their child.
