It is a harmless beauty gesture for us … but unthinkable for Kate Middleton or any other member of the Royal English family.

In the British royal family, the label is not just about the way of holding its cup of tea or the perfect bow. It also concerns the least aspects of everyday life, as during the beauty routine. Certain rules can be both surprising and strict. For example, you will never see a duchess adopting this current gesture, whether for a chic dinner or even to make a walk in the park.

This detail in question is perceived by Queen Elisabeth II as a sign of lack of elegance. Very attached to traditions and respect for royal codes, she made it a golden rule, not negotiable. Although this gesture can add a touch of glamor and sometimes even reflect the mood of the day, the other members of the royal family must refrain from it in public (perhaps even every day). So, have you guessed what it is? We are talking about colorful nail polish. Yes, the bright, dark or pearly shades are formally prohibited.

Fortunately, there are some exceptions: very pale colors, such as nude pink or transparent, are accepted, just to leave the manicure completely. The appointments to take care of his nails are so pleasant!

This ban perfectly enters the highly codified universe of British royalty. The primary objective being to maintain an image of sobriety and seriousness. Other rules complete this painting such as carrying your handbag to the right hand to free up the crowd. Dresses and skirts are required, and must meet specific criteria. Jeans are reserved for informal occasions … and the list of rules is still long.

In summary, if you cross a Duchess with scarlet nails one day, you can be sure that it has taken some liberties with the royal protocol.
