At what time to break the Ramadan fast each evening? Here are the times for Iftar also called Ftour, with the complete calendar for the blessed month.

Summary

This year, Ramadan takes place from Wednesday February 18 to Thursday March 19, 2026. Between now and the date of Eid al-Fitr, Muslims who fast every day are allowed to eat at a certain time in the evening, corresponding to the sunset (Maghreb time). At what time is it possible to break the Ramadan fast each evening? Here is the Iftar or Ftour time table.

What is Iftar or Ftour during Ramadan?

Iftar, Ftour or ftor is the name given to the meal taken every evening by Muslims at sunset to breaking the fast during the month of Ramadan. It is a meal taken, most often, with the family, after a day of fasting, the aim of which is to purify the body and mind and to understand the fate of the poorest. The Ftour meal therefore symbolizes the end of a day of mental and physical asceticism.

What are the Iftar times for Ramadan 2026?

Ramadan always lasts between 29 and 30 days and moves back around ten days each year, to adapt to the Muslim calendar which is not solar, but lunar. The time of the Ftour is linked to the time of the so-called “Maghreb” prayer. which means “sunset”. Here are the next Ftour schedules in Paris during the month of Ramadan 2026:

To wish your loved ones “bon Ftour” during Ramadan, the faithful usually say “saha ftourek” in Arabicwhich can also be translated as “bon appetit”.

What is the meaning of Iftar?

The term iftar means, within the framework of Ramadan, “breaking the fast”. It also echoes the word fitr which we find in Eid al-Fitrcelebration marking the end of the month of Ramadan. The rest of the year, “iftar” is a word for breakfast meal.

Where to take the Ftour for Ramadan?

Because oriental cuisine is an art that is not always mastered, but also because we sometimes don’t have the time or we are too tired from fasting to come home from work and fuss for hours in the kitchen, there are solutions. In addition to alternating meals eaten at home or at home, some Lebanese, Indian, Moroccan or Tunisian restaurants and caterers also deliver the ftour to your home. All you have to do then is set the table and wait for the moment to break the fast to enjoy!

Moreover, tours can also be organized in certain mosques. Finally, why not take advantage of the conviviality of a typical restaurant, to dine there, with your family, with your feet under the table?

When to start fasting during Ramadan?

According to the Quran, Ramadan corresponds to the holy month during which practitioners must keep a fast from dawn until sunset. In Muslim countries, the start of the fast is announced by a call to prayer occurring at dawn.

Before the start of the fast and the onset of dawn, Muslims take a last meal called “suhoor”. In general, it is customary to eat in the morning during the suhoor of foods that are both hydrating and supportive to the bodysuch as fruit, oatmeal (in the form of porridge), cottage cheese, muesli, eggs, without forgetting the essentials datesrich in fiber.
