Titoff made his television debut thanks to Thierry Ardisson… who made him a strange proposition when he discovered him! With the host, the comedian went to a swingers club and experienced a lunar evening.

At the beginning of the 2000s, Titoff was not yet known to the general public but performed his one-man show at the Théâtre du Trévise in Paris with relative success. “We lived by the recipe, we really had to fill“, remembered the main person involved at the microphone of Laughter & songs. One evening, when he did not suspect his presence, Titoff saw none other than Thierry Ardisson in his dressing room! “I’m in my dressing room, trying to get dressed and then there’s someone slapping me on the butt. I turn around and it’s Thierry Ardisson (…) He said to me: ‘I loved the show‘”, he first said.

It’s a swingers club, but I go there for the restaurant

That evening, the man in black, who died last July, made him understand that he had a proposition to make to him and invited him to the restaurant with his team. But the host immediately warned him: it wasn’t just any restaurant since Thierry Ardisson invited him to Les Chandelles, the famous Parisian libertine club. “It’s a swingers club, but I go there for the restaurant“, indicated the man in black at the time before the comedian retorted: “Going to a swingers club to eat is as stupid as going to McDonald’s to get a green salad“.

Titoff, embarrassed in front of Ardisson: “I had to tell him the truth”

But Titoff was not at the end of his surprises. To go to the restaurant, they got into a taxi together and, after asking the driver if he could smoke, the presenter Everyone is talking about it took out… a joint! Faced with the taxi driver’s surprise, he immediately retorted with a confident air: “No, but don’t worry, it will be legalized soon!“

Listen, Thierry, there have been three couples for a quarter of an hour…

Arriving at the restaurant, Audrey Crespo-Mara’s late companion explained to the comedian that he wanted to hire her as a sniper on his show Everyone is talking about it. But he only listened to him with one ear. “After a while, I had to tell him the truth. I said: ‘Listen, Thierry, for a quarter of an hour there have been three naked couples behind you doing the caterpillar. Recognize that this is not the best context to concentrate‘”, recalled Titoff, who then accepted the host’s proposal and who we were therefore able to discover on television in his show.

Despite their collaboration, the late host and the comedian did not create friendships although their relationship was cordial. “I learned a lot alongside him (…) I can’t say he’s a friend. I respect him a lot but I don’t have the same relationship as with Laurent Ruquier“, Titoff explained to Telepro in 2024.
