What could be better than a pair of Ugg ankle boots for optimal comfort with the cold weather setting in? You will have understood, the time has come to bring out your fur-lined boots. But after a few seasons, your shoes may have lost their superb appearance…don’t panic! We have the solution. Indeed, although adored for their style and comfort, Ugg boots are often put to the test in rainy weather. This tends to tarnish and damage their suede and sheepskin material. But good news, Phoebe Waites, a user of a Facebook group dedicated to cleaning, shared an ingenious tip that worked miracles on her shoes. To start, she recommends stuffing each bundle with newspaper, to restore them to their original shape. Next, spray white vinegar all over the suede surface. Vinegar is a natural cleaner, designed to remove dirt without damaging the material. Then, be sure to gently brush the suede using light circular motions. The goal is to remove dirt, again without damaging the surface. Finish cleaning by using a damp cloth to blot the suede and remove excess vinegar and dirt. Then let the boots dry near a radiator and finish with a final brush stroke.
Phoebe Waites then declared: “They are super soft again and have held their shape like new”. Many Internet users were also quick to welcome this scheme, commenting: “What kind of witchcraft is this?”, “They literally look like they just came out of the box! What an amazing job you did!” or even “Wow, are these really the same boots?”. Note that it is advisable to waterproof your ankle boots as the cool seasons approach. To do this, consider protective sprays sold in stores.
