Social networks were born with the idea of uniting and connecting people to each other. However, interactions are not always civil and with good ends. They have become virtual squares, where anger takes over respect, transforming connection into conflict. Laura Pausini also noticed this climate and decided to say enough. In a counter-current move, the singer has decided to distance herself from the digital world to detoxify herself from the emotional waste that social media can leave on the skin.

It all comes from a reflection linked to his latest publication. «In recent weeks, with the arrival of ‘Ritorno a amore’ I decided to do something concrete for myself», explained Pausini in his stories, launching a provocation to his audience, “Are you also doing something to love yourselves again?”. For the star of Solarolo, the answer was a clear break with the virtual: «I decided to do a little trick: delete all social media from my cell phone, because they were creating a sick addiction in me and I also decided to change my phone number and to stay in touch for the moment only with my family».

Behind the smiles of the photos, he was hiding a growing malaise linked to hyperconnection. «I had and need it», he admitted, «I was spending too much time in front of the screen and this was causing me stress and anxiety. Sometimes I couldn’t sleep because I thought I hadn’t been able to read and respond to all the messages.”

The decision to turn off the smartphone brought immediate benefits: «Reconnecting with life is allowing me to feel calmer and more focused with real people by my side. With sunlight and not the artificial light of the smartphone.”

But it’s not just a question of wasted time. There is a fierce criticism of the very nature that the platforms have taken on today. The singer said she made a brief login via her collaborators’ phones (the only way she will maintain a direct line with fans) and that I was shocked. «Today I went in for 10 minutes and looked around the various social networks reading news that doesn’t concern me and I found an unbridled hatred against everything and everyone. I got scared,” she wrote. «We haven’t been able to use social media to create contacts and get closer. They have become the place where anger and hatred are spewed.”

Laura Pausini does not leave her fans alone, but invites them to protect themselves. He will maintain the connection through what really matters, «the songs I sing», but launches a precious warning about mental health: «Be careful not to fall into this trap that can really lead to you feeling bad. Health is worth and deserves more.”
