TutorExtra has mapped over 1,000 subjects directly to UK education standards covering GCSEs, A-levels and Scottish National Qualifications, helping parents find tuition that matches their child’s school syllabus.

Subjects across the platform, spanning both core and extended learning areas, have been assigned to Key Stages 1–5 and Scottish qualification tiers.

This ensures that users are able to find tutors suited to particular exam boards and curriculum requirements, such as AQA GCSE Biology or SQA Higher Physics. The National Curriculum in England includes 12 required subjects in primary schools and nine in secondary, with policy updates promoting cross-subject critical thinking.

As well as academic disciplines, TutorExtra lists tuition in computing, creative arts and sports, all linked to curriculum expectations. For instance, a parent searching for a “KS3 Science tutor” sees profiles of educators trained in the Key Stage specification, including practical science delivery.

The mapped structure supports families concerned about staying aligned with changing syllabuses, particularly as the 2025 curriculum changes emphasise digital literacy and environmental themes. The platform’s model allows tutors to join without fees, ensuring strong representation from niche areas like BTEC pathways and Cambridge IGCSE.

“By linking our subjects directly to the National Curriculum, we’re making it easier for parents to bridge any learning hurdles with targeted support,” said a TutorExtra spokesperson.

The subject mapping is available through the platform’s browsing filters, enabling refined search by level and qualification. TutorExtra has operated since 2018, and continues expanding across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
