There is a corner of Brianza that does not empty in summer, it does not start, it does not tan. Stay there, with the shutters lowered and the Audi in the garage, the library open with a reduced time, two speakers and three parishes in operation. AND Usmate veiled – indeed, as they call them, Usmaci Velaci – the center of comic, surreal and affectionate gravity of the new summer hit signed by The Pax Side of the Moonan overwhelming and self -deprecating samba that has conquered the web, local radios and even the stage of the Concert of the Elio and the stories tense.
To write it was Filippo Pascuzzi, aka Pax, Brescia transplanted to Usmate. «The piece was born by chance, one summer evening in the mountains – he says – we played at a festival above Valmadrera, in the province of Lecco, the cold caught us unprepared, we were dressed in samba and we found ourselves on the sweatshirt. As a joke, I started to improvise a Bossa Novilian Bossa, saying that we came from ‘Usmaci Velaci’. From there everything was born “. A joke that has become a melody. An improvised jam that has become a collective story.
That samba took shape in the following months, in a season free from record constraints and tour. And in the midst of spring 2025, in record time, he gave life to “Summer a Usmate Velate”, a song that – thanks to his immediacy and the contagious irony – has spread far beyond the Brianzoli borders. “It all happened spontaneously. No strategy, no marketing plan. Just a chat vowel to the band. Then some Reels on Instagram, who made 200 thousand views, and Boom: the song started shooting alone ».
The text is an emotional geography made of crippled toponyms (from Vimercaci to Seregaci), pop references (“The Audi di dad”), suburban mythologies (the house in class A) and cultural quotations hidden under the surface. «It is a song that comes from inside – explains Pax – It is not an aggressive satire, but an exercise in self -irony. We are immersed to the neck in our province and, for once, we wanted to celebrate it. Even in its most trivial aspects. Raise it, at least a little. And if you do it by singing and celebrating, even a country library may seem like a temple ».
In the passage you don’t point your finger, you smile. With affection. “There is nothing to demolish – he adds – but so much to observe. We use our point of view: that of those who, while living in a place, never really manage to live it. Like me, who live in Usmate but I attend it very little. The work in Milan, my wife in Piacenza, life elsewhere. This is why I was curious to tell it: because I almost didn’t know him. And doing it singing he turned on the desire to find out in me ».
A manifesto of Augustan survival
This “sung discovery” also involved fans: on social media a sort of participatory mapping of the most “remarkable” places of USMate and surroundings began. «They write to us in private to report hidden chapels, panoramic benches, unusual corners. It’s like A kind tourism, a little secret, which was born for fun. But it works. Because even in a town in ten thousand inhabitants you can find small jewels. Just know how to look at them ».
THE The Pax Side of the Moon They are not new to such operations. Active since 2011, with a curriculum that ranges from the stage of Zelig to the day of energy saving, from the acronym for Radio deejay To the “hydroelectric music” played in an Edison plant, they are known for their ability to combine irony, social reflection and a profound attachment to the territory. Among their successes “Lombardy (all that everyone is mine)”, is from 2015. Then he arrived “geniuses”, on the digital drift, and now Usmaci Velaci, “A kind of manifesto of Augustan survival”.

The link with the Elio and the stories tense It is not only stylistic, but also professional: the band shares the historic label with them Hukapan. “Collaborating with Faso and Cesareo for us is a huge fortune – says Pax – they are extraordinary musicians and generous friends. Without them, probably, the song would not have had the same groove, the same spirit ».
Behind the humor, however, even more dark, more adult visions are hidden. There is a verse that strikes, among many: “If you want the tropical climate, asphalted up to the sea”. It is there that the song Vira from the comedy to critical observation. «I didn’t want to make a militant song – clarifies Pax – but It is clear that we are inside a climate change, and in part we are responsible for it. We are paving woods to build highways, and we do not invest in the railways. I wanted to insert it gently, but with awareness ».
There is also room for a reflection on those who stay at home, not by choice, but by necessity. «I was struck by seeing many videos of people who dance our song by writing: ‘We who remain here’. There are families who cannot afford their holidays, young people who work in summer, people who do not start. We wanted to give a smile to all of them. A samba for those who stay. A moment of escape, even if you are in slippers on the balcony ».
The figure of Pax It is precisely this: to combine self -irony with tenderness, humor with political gaze, without ever expiring in the Paternal. A philosophy that Pax summarizes by evoking Stromae: «I often think of his ALors on Danse: a sad, but danceable song. Talk about the disaster around, but it makes you move. Here, we too would like to say: we cannot change everything, but we can dance. And if we dance together, maybe something really moves».

The result? A song that lives on many readings: for some it is only fun, for others it is a hymn to resilience, for others still a manifesto of light and conscious citizenship. «I don’t like the idea that a song must have only one interpretation – says Pax – I prefer that everyone finds their own. Also because, as a friend of mine said, if you can’t save the world, at least put some music and dance over “.
No “catchphrase factory”, no major to push the single. Usmaci Velaci has exploded from below, as only authentic things can do. «When they tell us it’s a catchphrase, we laugh. We finished it between May and June. Too late, they told us. And instead it went. It went because people wanted it. Because it is sincere. And perhaps because it speaks a little of all of us, even if we do not live in Usmate veiled ».
