In order to simplify their trip and encourage them to use it instead of taking the car, new products are regularly set up.
Each day, millions of people use public transport in France. Many cities encourage their inhabitants to use them, in order to reduce traffic jams and pollution, and this is particularly the case in Ile-de-France. In order to facilitate the transport of users and to convince both residents and visitors to move around, new features are regularly set up. For example, since January 1ᵉʳ 2025, in place of the T+ ticket (which remains on sale and usable in 2025), it is possible to buy two other titles: the metro-train-road ticket, at 2.50 euros per unit or the bus-tram ticket, at 2 euros per unit. This allows people who only use buses and trams to save money.
To benefit from an even more advantageous rate, it is also possible to subscribe to the Liberté +subscription, which allows you to pay 1.99 euros (or 0.99 euros for the reduced rate) Metro, train or RER, and 1.60 euro (0.80 euro for the reduced rate) for bus and tram journeys. This formula is perfectly suited for occasional travelers, since it is no longer necessary to buy tickets, but simply to scan your card on each trip. These are debited the following month. Thus, we do not pay more than what we are traveling, and there is a daily ceiling which means that we cannot be billed more than the price of the Navigo Day (excluding airport journeys) if we exceed a certain number of journeys during the day, specifies the site of Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM).
And it is precisely this offer that will soon evolve. While the number of members at the Navigo Liberté + pass has almost doubled since November 2024, Valérie Pécresse, president of the region and IDFM, announced to the Parisian It will be possible, from June, to have it in a dematerialized version. It will be accessible on Android and iOS smartphones (Apple) and will no longer need to have your card on yourself: you just have to pass your phone on the validator. Thus, users will no longer be annoyed if they have forgotten or lost their card.
In order to no longer have to queue at the counter to recharge it, it was already possible to have a navigo card day, week or dematerialized month, and the only subscription which is not yet is the annual navigo pass. However, this should soon be the case! Valérie Pécresse said that we could have it on her smartphone “At the end of 2025”.
