We think we’re doing the right thing by wearing them, but could it be that we’ve been wrong all this time?
For the most zealous fashionistas, aesthetics often take precedence over health. Celine Dion said it herself in an interview; when you like shoes, you don’t buy them in your size; you buy them and then you make them fit you. But if we often imagine that high shoes, heeled shoes and pumps of all kinds are the only things harmful to our body; in fact, so is another pair of shoes that everyone wears day in and day out, known for its comfort. On the waves of RTLDoctor Jimmy Mohamed reveals which one to us.
At the microphone of Amandine Begot and Thomas Sotto, he states: “Chiropodists will tell you that sneakers are neither good for the feet nor good for posture, both for children and adults.” Lower back pain and overuse of muscles are among the problems mentioned by the famous doctor with 1.9 million subscribers. Obviously, there is a nuance: it is the fact of wearing them daily that tips the scales to the bad side.
Another detail put forward by the doctor also works to their disadvantage: the time it takes to put them on. It’s when we rush and put them on hastily that the negative consequences are felt. Indeed, when you put them on like slippers and push your foot directly into them, the latter “East (SO) totally spread out, and that’s how you can have back pain and overuse of your muscles (…) So take two minutes every day to properly wear your shoes.”
Fortunately for sneaker fans, the doctor does not recommend banning them completely from our wardrobe, but rather adopting best practices and choosing the right models. “The ideal is to have leather sneakers, which close with laces.”
Conclusion: not all sneakers are worth throwing away. Only certain styles are affected. Ultimatelyit is above all the use we make of them which determines whether or not they are dangerous.
