Most people already understand that cyber threats exist. They recognize phishing, scams, and online fraud. Yet many still struggled with a more fundamental question:

“When people ask questions,” he explains, “they’re rarely asking whether cybercrime exists. They’re asking something much more practical: ‘Can I trust this email? Is this website genuine? Is this caller really from my bank?’ Awareness tells people that threats exist. Verification helps them decide whether to trust what they’re seeing right now.”
These experiences significantly influenced his thinking about the future of cybersecurity.
Rethinking Digital Trust
Tiwari believes cybersecurity is entering a new phase.
For many years, organizations have invested heavily in cybersecurity awareness programs. While he considers these initiatives essential, he believes awareness alone is no longer sufficient in an era where artificial intelligence can generate highly convincing phishing emails, voice impersonations, and sophisticated social engineering attacks.
“I believe we’re moving from awareness-first security toward verification-first security,” he says. “Instead of asking people to rely solely on instinct, we should equip them with intelligent tools that help verify authenticity before trust is established.”
Rather than replacing awareness, verification complements it by helping individuals make informed decisions at the exact moment those decisions matter most.
Artificial Intelligence: Opportunity and Responsibility
Artificial intelligence is reshaping cybersecurity from both the defensive and offensive perspectives.
Cybercriminals increasingly use AI to produce convincing fraudulent communications at unprecedented scale, making traditional warning signs far less reliable than they once were.
“The quality of deception has improved dramatically,” Tiwari says. “Authenticity can no longer be judged by appearance alone.”
At the same time, he believes AI offers one of the greatest opportunities for strengthening cybersecurity.
Instead of focusing exclusively on detecting attacks after they occur, AI can assist users before decisions are made by evaluating context, historical interactions, behavioral patterns, and risk indicators in real time.
“Artificial intelligence shouldn’t only detect attacks,” he explains. “It should help people answer a much simpler question: ‘Should I trust this?'”
Leadership through customer experience
Throughout his career, Tiwari has consistently emphasized that cybersecurity and customer experience should never be treated as separate disciplines.
Technical excellence alone does not determine whether customers trust an organization. Every interaction—from product adoption and technical support to incident response and ongoing communication—contributes to that trust.

“The next decade won’t simply be about identifying malicious activity more quickly,” he says. “It will be about helping people make better trust decisions before attackers have the opportunity to succeed.”
