Sandrine Arcizet and Elodie Ageron are back for a new season ofAnimals to adoptthe program feel good which sensitizes on the animal cause. This time, the two animators land on TMC on Sunday, a few months after the end of C8. Meeting with those who whisper in the ear of animals …
How did you experience the end of C8 ?
Sandrine Arcizet: We lived it very badly. C8 is 20 years of our life. We met there both of it and it was a heartbreak when it ended, we’re not going to lie. It is still the closure of a chain. We didn’t ask for anything, like all these animals that are abandoned. In addition, we really started at the start of the channel, so it’s really a big human adventure and it’s a lot of memories and a lot of emotions. It’s complicated, but Animals to adopt is there and bounces thanks to the TF1 group and we are very well received!
Elodie Ageron: It was done brutally. We were quiet in our universe, our animal bubble. It was a bit of a particular world, because we were really in humans, something sincere, healthy. Fortunately Animals to adopt was saved, but this is not the case to The animals of the 8. Many people are asking us today to return from this program and we have one day to be able to recreate these beautiful human adventures …
Tell us about this new season ofAnimals to adopt…
Sandrine Arcizet: We always see the work of the SPA employees and volunteers and all these animals who are in need of love, a family, who have been abandoned or who seek adopters. The novelty this year is that with Elodie, we will be in immersion in three programs. So we did the open doors of the SPA. And then there are two other programs where we are in immersion. We are really in the refuge, we take part in everything that is going on there …
Elodie Ageron: It is a program that makes it possible to raise awareness of the animal cause, to abandonment, responsible adoption. And that’s super important to get all these messages.
Are you going to welcome personalities during the season?
Elodie Ageron: I don’t think it’s planned. There may be specials, surprises. Maybe new episodes. We’ll see. But we don’t know for the moment.
Do you think we can drastically reduce abandonment despite increasingly disappointing figures each year?
Elodie Ageron: We see that there are always a lot of abandonments as vacation approaches. However, the French are very attached to animals, they love them. But it is true that there is a small difficulty: sometimes we have not realized that an animal, it grows, it does not remain small. You have to educate it, it takes time. It is super important to ask all these questions and to be aware of all this before having an animal.
Sandrine Arcizet: You always have to have hope. But it’s true that it’s complicated. Each year, there are more and more … I think you must also take an animal according to the needs of the dog and not necessarily our needs to us. If it is a sporty dog, you have to be sporty. If we are a homebody, we take a homebody. We take a dog according to his lifestyle too, not according to a fashion effect!
Cats are also affected by abandonments …
Sandrine Arcizet: It is a territorial animal who likes to stay with him, but there are also abandonments of cats because people do not know how to do when they go on vacation, for example…. And then a cat needs solicitation too. Now cats are increasingly “cat-chien”, as they say. They are very demanding. You have to play with them, they are more sociable than before …
Elodie Ageron: There are also NACs, new pets, which we may speak less, but who are also victims of abandonment. And there are many farm animals that are also affected by this. Fortunately, there are specialized SPA shelters to accompany all these farm animals.
Where does your love for animals come from?
Sandrine Arcizet: Me, it has been really childhood since childhood. I have always lived with animals. My parents were very sensitive to the animal cause. When I was born, there were dogs and cats at home. Afterwards, I had a fish, I even had a lizard. I have always been surrounded. I find that it is super beneficial to grow with animals because it responsibilities, it allows us to have a companion.
Elodie Ageron: For my part, I am an only girl. So, I was often all alone at home and I really wanted to have an animal. I knew it brought a lot. When I saw them in the street or when I went to friends with animals, it did me something. I have always been sensitive to the animal cause from a very young age. The animals are there for us, in any time, whether it is difficult or happy. They understand us, there is no judgment, they are faithful for life. I had a parakeet, I loved it so much! Her name was Calpse, she made droppings everywhere but she was too nice …
How many animals do you currently have?
Sandrine Arcizet: We each have two cats and a dog. Cohabitation is going well because my dog arrived two years ago now and my cats were already there. With patience, and without forcing, they acclimatized. I would like to have lots of animals, donkeys and everything, but it is also necessary to do in office of your lifestyle and what you can …
Elodie Ageron: I took cats at the start because since we were on the move with the Animals of the 8our 20 -year program, and as I was separated from the children’s father, I knew they could be alone a day or two days with a friend’s visit. It was more practical for me. Then I was able to arrange myself to have a dog and take care of it.
