Powdery, sensual, and floral, this cult perfume from the 1990s is reinvented for our greatest happiness.
There are smells that mark an entire generation. Those that we could recognize even years later because they are so unique. This is the case of this legendary perfume from the end of the 90s. Launched by a popess of British fashion, its powdery, sensual and terribly provocative trail has won over those in search of originality. Then, in 2015, tragedy struck: it disappeared from the face of the earth, leaving many fans orphaned by the fragrance. Until October 2025 when the good news finally arrived.
When it was launched in 1998, aficionados discovered an uncompromising juice. An explosion of opulent rose, enveloped by warm, almost carnal notes of cinnamon, tobacco and musk. A bold floral chypre that smelled of intimacy, powdery blush and secret passion. For this reissue of Boudoir, Vivienne Westwood took up the challenge of reawakening this myth while bringing it up to date. The brand confirmed that the aim was to capture the original spirit, but with more sustainable and modern raw materials. Expect a scent that evokes memories, without being a simple carbon copy. A true blend of tradition and modernity, nostalgia and renewal, Boudoir opens with aldehydes mixed with floral notes such as bergamot and orange blossom. Next come Damascus rose and carnation, accompanied by spicy notes. Finally, vanilla and tobacco leaf dance with a touch of sandalwood. The result? A chypre, sensual, ultra-feminine scent that pays homage to the Boudoir of the 90s, but with a real twist marking this new era for Vivienne Westwood.
For this reissue, the house trusted perfumer Cristian Calabro. He had the difficult task of reworking a true classic, without taking away its soul or falling into obsolete. 100% successful bet. On the side of the bottle, here again the brand hits hard: we find the name of the fragrance in the handwriting of Vivienne Westwood. The transparent glass reveals the pretty pink color of the liquid and the famous signature golden orb serves as a cap. “Our golden orb is a jewel, symbolizing the world with its past, its present and, with the addition of the ring of Saturn, its future. It’s very British and very Vivienne“, even explained Andreas Kronthaler, artistic director of Vivienne Westwood and husband of the designer.
On the other hand, to get your hands on this new gem, you will have to be patient: the perfume has been available in a selection of boutiques in Paris, Milan, London, New York and Los Angeles since October 2025. From 2026, it will be on sale in a greater number of stores around the world.
