What is a family service in France?
The different categories of family services paid by the Family Allowance Fund or the MSA
In France, family services are divided into several categories:
- the services linked to the birth and reception of early childhood,
- General maintenance services,
- Special assignment services.
They are paid by CAF or MSA.
Definition of social security code
In all, more than twenty family benefits are granted to families according to their family situation and their income. According to article 512-1 of the Social Security Code, “any French or foreign person residing in France, with their responsibility one or more children living in France, benefits for these children family services”.

What are the conditions for reaching family services?
The age of children must not exceed 20 years
Family services are paid to people (married, PACS, in free union, alone) who are responsible children under the age of 20without activity or touching monthly remuneration less than 55% Smic. The beneficiaries must assume the effective and permanent charge (food, housing, clothing) of their legitimate, natural, adoptive or collected children.
Note : The age condition widens up to 21 years for housing aid and helping large families with low resources (family supplement).

What are the family benefits paid by CAF specific to the birth or reception of a child?
Known under the acronym PAJE (benefit of reception of the young child), this family service is available in four social aid: the basic allowance, the bonus at birth or the adoption, the shared education of the child’s education and the complement of free choice of the daycare.
The basic allowance of the service of the young child’s reception (PAJE)
The basic allocation of the PAJE is paid monthly to ensure the expenses linked to the education of children from 0 to 3 years old. Parents’ income must not exceed an updated ceiling each year. It takes into account the resources of year N-2.
The bonus on adoption or birth
The adoption bonus and the birth premium are paid at the beginning of the 7ᵉ months of pregnancy, provided that family revenues do not exceed a certain ceiling.
The complement of the free choice of childcare mode (CMG)
The complement of the free choice of childcare is an aid paid to the parents who work or are beneficiaries of the RSA. It participates in the costs caused by child care by a childminder or in a crèche. The amount of the CMG varies depending on the income of parents, age and number of children.
The shared education of the child’s education

Aid whose amount is not subject to means conditions
Family services with special assignment are paid in special circumstances. They mainly concern households who have a disabled child or whose pathology (physical or mental) initiates specific costs, and forces parents to decrease their working time. In parallel, the flat -rate allowance for the death of a child under the age of 25 can also be paid.
AEEH and AAH for disabled children and adults
The education allowance of the disabled child (AEEH) is not subject to resource conditions. It is paid for children under the age of 20 whose handicap leads to an incapacity of at least 80 %. This estimate is between 50 and 79 % for home care or if it resides in a specialized establishment.
A supplement can possibly be paid according to each situation. It is available in six categories. Isolated parents can benefit from an increase included. For children over 20 years of age, you have to apply for an allocation to disabled adults (AAH).
AJPP for a temporary interruption of its profession
The daily parental presence allowance (AJPP) is provided to parents who must interrupt their professional activity temporarily. This family service requires a medical certificate and a justification for the parental presence leave. The child must have a disability, illness or serious accident.
The back -to -school allowance or bonus
