While Macron, during high -level conference on the two -states solution, convened by France and Saudi Arabia, officially recognized the Palestine state, in Milan the protests took a violent drift, culminating in the direct clash with the police.
Objects, sticks, bombs of smoke were thrown against the police in an anti -Somamossa seal, which responded with a rain of tear gas that filled the central station and the in front of via Pisani for at least four hours.
Hard the words of President Meloni, who criticized the vandalism: “Violence and destruction that have nothing to do with solidarity and that will not change the life of people in Gaza a comma, but will have concrete consequences for Italian citizens, who will end up undergoing and paying the damage caused by these thugs”.
The clash therefore moved to social networks: those who have been preparing to denounce free violence and vandalism, far from the pacifist will of the organization, and those who, instead, that violence sees it as a collateral damage of a necessary manifestation, of an anger that can no longer be repressed.
However, what has escaped and that went quietly compared to violent clashes, is the conclusion of the procession in Milan: the curtain of the smoke bombs, The majority of the demonstrators who remained in the rear was brought to the compact cord of the police and trucks and sat at the foot of the transparent shields of the Celerini.
Some they were holding hands, others embraced each other, still others started the songs in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Kefiah, until then used to shelter from tear gas, was lowered on the face and crossed around the neck. The baskets who were sold off in the previous hours were transformed into drums, the stones launched into chopsticks to keep the rhythm on light poles and road signs.
Two girls, one dressed in the flag of peace and the other with the Palestinian one, approached the barrier of the police to give a paper boat with the colors of Palestine. A further note of merit to the procession, forgotten in the story of the facts: around 6 pm, some also equipped themselves with baskets and large bags to clean up the roads from the left of the emptied baskets. Moreover, to date, the damaged windows and the broken doors have been fully restored. There is no trace of the violent actions of the previous afternoon.
And then to wait in almost morbidly only that punch of boys against the 50000 people who went down yesterday in the streets of Milan, challenging bad weather and giving up a working day, is a sign of an Italy that continues to miss the meaning and the need for a manifestation of this caliber.
The message of the pacifist majority was directed to the government, called to take a clear position against the Palestinian genocide. Side damage or violent turns that want to define them aside, yesterday’s day marked a historical moment for Italy.
