In many cases, this could be a neighbor or anyone with a master key, capable of opening all the mailboxes in a building simultaneously. Once access is obtained, simply use it and close it. Thieves primarily target large packages or those that appear to contain valuable items. And, once the package is stolen, it is difficult to prove that you did not receive it, especially if a photo was taken by the delivery person at the time of drop-off. Faced with this risk, more and more people are changing their habits. Many now favor parcel relays, considered more secure since the parcels are carefully preserved until collection. Others opt for delivery to the workplace, to a loved one present during the day, or choose automatic lockers when they are available.
Finally, to request a refund, the first step is to contact the seller’s customer service, not that of the carrier. You must report the package as not received, explain the circumstances and provide the available elements: order number, proof of payment, exchanges with the carrier, delivery photo if it exists. During the holiday season, it is therefore better to anticipate. For valuable gifts, choosing a secure delivery method and avoiding mailbox delivery can make all the difference. A simple reflex that helps avoid many disappointments as Christmas approaches.
