Changing your mind without going through the regret box is the dream of many. Good news: a cut from Asia now allows you to have short and long hair at the same time.

In 2026, the big hair hesitation remains the same: keep your length or go square. The short gives character and lightens the neck. The long one offers more everyday options. Until now, we had to decide. Today, a technique born in South Korea offers a concrete alternative to this dilemma.

The cut in question is neither based on extensions, nor on wigs, nor on a DIY optical effect. Everything comes down to the cutting time, in the way the lengths are distributed. More concretely, in the hairdresser’s chair, the work begins with a careful separation of the hair mass. The hair is divided into two distinct parts, one hidden under the other. Each area is cut differently, according to a precise route which depends on the density and the starting length. The final result is only visible once the hair is styled, because the superposition deliberately hides part of the work.

Worn loose, the cut seems to correspond to a single length. But as soon as you modify the attachment, the silhouette changes. By lifting certain strands, another line appears, shorter, more structured. Technically, we are close to an undercut, but without shaving or obvious demarcation. It all depends on the ability of the two levels to blend into each other to create volume and movement. In short, two styles, two lengths, one visit to the hairdresser. His name? The two-in-one cut.

Note that this technique, however, requires certain conditions. Indeed, the thickness of the hair plays a central role. You need enough material so that the upper part perfectly covers the shorter area. On very fine hair, the transition can become visible and lose subtlety.

The starting length is just as decisive: if the hair is already mid-length, the contrast will not be strong enough to produce the desired effect.

Straight or slightly wavy hair highlights the precision of the cut more, because each line remains well defined. On very curly hair, the difference in levels may require more rigorous styling to maintain visual harmony.
