This foundation at €4.99 from Hema is the best according to 60 Million Consumers. A natural nugget for a perfect complexion without breaking the bank.
This is the goal of any beauty routine: to find the product capable of hiding imperfections while letting the skin breathe, without the dreaded “mask” effect. But while luxury references often display dizzying prices, a gem nestled in the shelves of a famous Dutch brand has just shaken up the makeup hierarchy. Long remaining in the shadow of the big names in perfumery, this low-price formula available from Hema has obtained the Holy Grail: the favors of the 60 Million Consumers association. In its January 2026 issue, the media scrutinized low-cost cosmetics. Composition, number of substances, value for money… Nothing has been left to chance! This little nugget available at the price of €4.99 proves that sometimes a radiant complexion and preserved skin are not a question of budget.
To achieve this result, 60 Million Consumers started with a question: are the compositions necessarily bad when the reference only costs a few euros? The media then compared ten foundations based on several criteria: the list of ingredients and the Cosmeto’Score. The latter is a rating tool set up by the media, it analyzes the components of products and their impact on health and the environment. Thus, Hema’s Natural Skin foundation obtains a B in the first category and an A in the second, in particular thanks to its packaging made with recycled materials.
Without deeming it impeccable, experts believe that the foundation formula is balanced and without controversial ingredients. “Good, inexpensive surprises also exist“, then wrote 60 Million Consumers. Indeed, Natural Skin contains 84% ingredients of natural origin. Among them, aloe vera, apricot oil and vitamin E for the antioxidant side.
On the other hand, the media did not wish to test the performance of the foundation. Hema describes it as a product with a fluid texture offering buildable coverage from light to medium, “without a mask effect, and a luminous bare skin finish all day long.“Available in eight shades, it therefore wins the palm of gold for low-cost dyed products. On the brand’s website it even obtains the very good rating of 4.3/5.
