Stuck hair, stagnant water, unpleasant odors… the shower siphon quickly becomes a nightmare. However, a simple kitchen item allows you to set everything up in a few seconds, without even getting your hands dirty.

We’ve all experienced this unpleasant moment: the shower water not draining properly, a puddle forming under our feet and, ultimately, the obvious: a pile of hair blocking the siphon. However, no one likes to put their hands in it. The good news? There is a very simple trick, using an object that you already have in your kitchen.

Hair is one of the main causes of bathroom clogging. Mixed with soap and limestone, they quickly form a blockage that is difficult to dislodge. Not only does this slow down the evacuation of water and can give off bad odors, but it often requires unsavory handling. Many people give up, use harsh chemicals, or end up dismantling the siphon. But there is a much simpler solution. Some use pliers, others use a hook made from a coat hanger, but there is a cleaner, more efficient option. And the most surprising? It is not in the bathroom, but in the kitchen. This object, designed to clean something else, is exactly the right shape to catch stuck hair. Flexible, thin, equipped with small brushes: the straw brush does the work for you. You may already have one for cleaning your reusable straws or narrow-mouth bottles. Well, it’s also the perfect tool for removing hair from your shower without touching it.

To do this, simply insert the bottle brush gently into the drain and make a slight back and forth movement to hook the hair. Then remove everything effortlessly and rinse the bottle brush. Not only does this clear the way, but you also avoid damaging your pipes with chemicals which are also expensive. To make it work even better, you can add a little dishwashing liquid to the bottle brush before inserting it. This action will help degrease the soap residue that sticks to the hair and therefore help you catch it better.

Remember to reserve a bottle brush only for the bathroom and rinse it after each use to avoid bad odors. With this simple kitchen item, no more disgusting chores and blockages in the shower. A smart, clean and economical little gesture, which saves you a lot of inconvenience.
