A year after the death of popular weather presenter Catherine Laborde, her clan is torn apart. And his sister, Françoise, notably evokes a point of tension towards the last husband of the late TF1 star.
Since the publication of Thomas Stern’s book, Is there life after your death?last January, there was war in the Laborde clan. And for good reason, the husband of Catherine Laborde, who died of Lewy body disease at the age of 73 in January 2025, once again evokes his essential role as caregiver. Which does not go down at all with the daughters of the late weather presenter, Gabrièle and Pia, and her sister, Françoise Laborde.
Catherine Laborde, her daughters “devastated” : “The orphans are his daughters!”
In the columns of France Sundaythe journalist, now 72 years old, did not mince her words, and even directly accused Thomas Stern with whom she admitted to having always had conflictual relations. At the same time, she gave news of her nieces whom she considers left behind since the death of their famous mother. “They are devastated! When I see that they spent the last three years of their mother’s life with her and suddenly, unfairly, that is being stolen from them!”she immediately announced.
Before completing without detour: “By this man who, not long ago, refused Gabrièle to go with her children to her mother’s house (on the island of Yeu, in Vendée, of which he has usufruct but which the daughters of the presenter received as inheritance, editor’s note) last summer in August, he who presents himself as the ‘kind, loving husband’, repeating ‘We are all orphans of Catherine…’. No, the orphans are his daughters”. And she adds, still on the subject of Thomas Stern: “I always found that he was not nice to my sister and that he took advantage of his notoriety to put himself forward”. This has the merit of being clear…
Catherine Laborde: her daughters “cannot go as they would like” in his house
In the process, Françoise Laborde did not hesitate for a single second to address the thorny question of the legacy left by her sister. “What saddens me today is that because of her illness, she was not able to resolve all the material issues”she began. Before specifying: “Like for example for her last house, of which her husband kept the usufruct and where her daughters cannot go as they would like. Which is a shame!”
“A week before she left, the three of us met with our sister, Geneviève, on the island of Yeu. Catherine was obviously tired, but when she was there, she was there, bright and smiling”she then remembered. Before concluding: “We were talking about our childhood memories, I also remembered how, when she was little, she was afraid at night… It broke my heart to hear her say that she was always afraid”.
