After forty years on TV and radio, Laurent Ruquier has (still) more than one anecdote up his sleeve. Recently, he returned to an improbable Breton casino story which brought him a huge amount of money.
It’s in his flagship show, The Big Headsthat Laurent Ruquier detailed one of the craziest money stories of his career. On the airwaves of RTL, the loyal gentleman of the program spoke at length about a funny adventure that he experienced in a casino in Brittany.
Laurent Ruquier lucky at the game: “I had to win…”
“When I was on tour, when I was still doing one-man shows, so it was twenty years ago, I went to a small Breton town where there was a casino”began the presenter, now 62 years old. Before relating, with a smile on my lips: “So you already take the money from the show. Then, afterwards, you find yourself in the casino, there are all the people who saw you on stage…” And Laurent Ruquier continues his anecdote: “And there you are playing, and it was poker for me, not poker with cards, but poker slot machines. You just have to press a button and the card has to be higher than the one that was drawn previously. I did it once, twice, three times… I didn’t understand that each time it multiplied what I had!”
So much so that Hugo Manos’ former companion “must have earned 15 or 20,000 francs” to this little game. But the story doesn’t end there! “I’m going to change all my chips and say to myself ‘that way at least, I’m sure I’ve won this, but I’m keeping one chip, and I’m going back. And I’m starting again. And I’m winning 15,000 francs again!’concluded the one who is at the head of Big Heads since 2014.

An anecdote which also provoked a reaction from Elie Semoun, member of the Big Heads present on set that day, in turn detailing a tour memory. “I remember, I was in Enghien, and it was Muriel Robin who directed me at the time”he first said. Before concluding: “She’s gone for 15 minutes, she comes back, she had just won 9,000 bucks, this bitch**.”
“That has never happened to me in 25 years at the same time, I tell you. The other casino where I won so much money is called RTL”ended up letting go of Laurent Ruquier, provoking hilarity from his companions and the public. Since then, it is thanks to his career in the media and the theater that he is a millionaire and was able to buy a mansion in Normandy as well as a duplex in Paris.
