Gérard Vives fell in love with a property as sublime as it was immense: the Château de la Vernée, located in Garchizy in the Nièvre department (in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region). “I visited the estate on July 13, 2013, I remember it as if it were yesterday. Two days later, I made a purchase offer,” he explained to Center Journal. He is now the owner of this 17-hectare estate, a three-hour drive from Paris.
Recently guest on the show Between quotesbroadcast on the Rhône TV YouTube channel, Gérard Vives has revealed new secrets about the second job he leads thanks to this castle used for weddings – from 5,000 euros per rental -, receptions and various events. “I have a work tool, which means that when I leave a show, I have a job. And that allows me to have the freedom to say yes or to say no. And often to say no! Me behind, I don’t wait for my phone to ring”he assured.
Gérard Vives hyperactive: he “works constantly” !
A real hard worker, the actor with the charming daddy physique admits that “do things” is what he likes most in life. A bit hyperactive, Gérard Vives doesn’t hide it. “I’m afraid of not working (…) I’m very, very afraid”he said during the same interview.
Result: he “tinkers a lot” And “works constantly” to beautify his castle and its park. “It’s a castle which is made of flint and which I am renovating. Which is open to the public, and which also allows me to create activities, fairs, exhibitions, people can also have parties at my house, get married…”he detailed. Before concluding: “I don’t know how to do anything but on the other hand I observe and I learn, that allows me to do a lot of things”.
