The artist Richard Orlinski recently told RTL that he was surprised by a bill for several thousand euros. In question? A preposterous oversight on his part!
When he is not in his workshop, busy creating his famous animal sculptures, Richard Orlinski is on the radio or in the studio making music. A life at a hundred miles an hour for the 60-year-old artist, so much so that he sometimes loses his mind a little. And it costs him dearly…
Richard Orlinski heads in the air: “In August, I went on vacation and…“
There is little chance that one day you will forget a vehicle at the airport for many weeks, right? Yet this is what happened to the famous artist Richard Orlinski! “I received an invoice for more than 9,000 euros, excluding taxes (…) In August, I went on vacation and left my vehicle in the parking lot (…) I completely forgot to collect my car on the way back“, he said on the set of Big Headsfacing the amazed looks of Laurent Ruquier and the other residents of the show. The artist justified himself by assuring that he was still disturbed by the time difference on his return and that it was his driver who had gone to pick him up by car.
It must be said that the sculptor, recently seen at the funeral of Isabelle Mergault, has a relatively well stocked parking lot with vehicles and he therefore did not realize that one of them was missing. “I have many others“, he admitted. An oversight which lasted for 9 long months and which therefore ended up costing him 9,000 euros in parking fees at the airport! But the artist was still able to get something out of it, since he did not have to pay security and surveillance costs for several months for this car.
Richard Orlinski, wealthy artist: how much do his sculptures sell for?
Richard Orlinski has never hidden the fact that he earns his living extremely well. The sixty-year-old with 9.4 million subscribers on Instagram can sell his flagship sculpture, a gorilla, between 2,500 euros and several hundred thousand euros, according to Les Echos. And some of the biggest stars on the planet are among its clients, like Paul McCartney and Sharon Stone.
The sculptor manages to maintain a fortune that is all the more substantial as he regularly collaborates with brands such as Puma, Optical Center, Bic or even Lancôme, which asked him in 2022 to create a flower sculpture for the launch of a perfume. “My tip is to wait for brands to approach me for a collaboration. I’m never a asker and I think you should never be“, he assured. A case that allows him to maintain a lifestyle that is comfortable to say the least…
