Kiabi launches Ekstract, its new low-cost sports line. A 10 euro coin particularly caught our attention during the test.
Already crowned favorite fashion brand of the French in 2025 ahead of Primark and Decathlon, Kiabi continues its expansion at high speed while several historic brands are going through a complicated period. While certain chains are closing stores or struggling to relaunch, the northern brand continues to expand its playing field. After women’s, men’s, children’s and home fashion, it is now tackling sport with Ekstract, a new line which intends to appeal to French people looking for technical, stylish and above all accessible clothing.
Behind this name with dynamic accents, the message is clear: escape from everyday life, move, surpass yourself. With Ekstract, Kiabi wants to speak to all profiles, from fitness enthusiasts to Sunday walkers, including those who simply want comfortable pieces for everyday life. The collection already brings together around a hundred items: bras, leggings, breathable t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts and accessories. And above all, particularly aggressive prices in a market where sports sets often easily exceed €80. “For example, the bra is 8 euros, the leggings are 12€ so for 20€, you have your outfit for sportst”, explains Alexandra Cailleau, new brands leader at Kiabi to LSA magazine. The products are offered from XS to XXL with the same price whatever the size, a detail rare enough to be highlighted.
We wanted to see what this new line was really worth. First visit to the store, cabin obligatory, before completing our online selection where the offer appears even wider. And the surprise is quite good. The bras are comfortable, with several levels of support depending on sports activities and different shapes adapted to all silhouettes. The materials are breathable and pleasant to wear, even after 1h30 of urban dancing. Style-wise, Kiabi also succeeds. Big crush on the shades of blue and green which immediately give a modern look to the silhouettes. On the other hand, more reserve on the yellow, much too transparent for our taste.
The piece that convinced us the most, however, remains a simple t-shirt at 10€. With its slit in the back, it ticks all the boxes: pretty, flattering and above all really breathable during exercise. A fashionable but intelligently designed piece, exactly what we expect today from accessible sports clothing.
Another nice surprise, the brand didn’t stop at clothing. Several accessories are already available, including a very successful banana which could quickly become a must-have. Enough to make you want to see Ekstract go even further. Sneakers? A child line?
With Ekstract, the brand shows above all that it no longer only wants to dress the French at low prices, but also to support their new way of life.
