Today, to find a job, many try to stand out with recommendations or ultra-personalized applications. However, there is a method that systematically appeals to recruiters and very few think about it.

Finding a job in 2026 no longer looks like what previous generations knew. Sending out a few CVs and waiting for the phone to ring is almost from another era. Today, candidates must compete with each other to attract the attention of recruiters, often faced with piles of impressive applications. When an offer receives several hundred responses, it’s difficult to expect that a CV, even a very solid one, will systematically make a difference.

Faced with this reality, some are looking for new ways to present themselves. This is the case of a young graduate specializing in digital strategy who embarked on a particularly intensive job search. His objective was clear: avoid becoming just one file among many others. He therefore multiplied the experiences. Firstly with a very detailed portfolio retracing his career, his projects and his professional achievements. The idea seemed good on paper, but in reality the time spent constructing this document was not really rewarded.

He also tried another fashionable approach on professional networks: preparing presentations explaining how he would improve the company he was targeting. A sort of giant homework assignment before even getting an interview. The exercise required hours of preparation for a rather disappointing result. Same observation regarding the recommendations. Despite a solid professional network, the famous contacts supposed to open doors did not bring him much.

The turning point came almost by chance. While reading job seeker discussions on the Internet, he came across an idea that came up regularly: abandon the traditional written cover letter for a video cover letter. It was then that he chose to present his journey in front of the camera, explaining his motivations and sometimes adding a few touches of humor. THE link was then shared with recruiters via a private platform.

This formula immediately caught attention. Recruiters could hear his voice, discover his way of expressing himself and get a clearer idea of his personality in just a few minutes. Some even explained to him that they felt like they already knew him before the interview.

At a time when many applications end up looking the same, the video cover letter brings another element: presence. And, it is precisely for this reason that more and more employers appreciate the concept. Without replacing the CV, it allows you to give a face to an application and make an impression even before the first exchange.
