At 103 years old, Charlotte Chopin continues to move with ease on a daily basis thanks to these very simple habits to implement, and a sporting discipline: yoga.

Could yoga be the secret to longevity? At 103 years old, Frenchwoman Charlotte Chopin is a true source of inspiration. The Olympic form of this resident of the town of Léré, in Cher, makes more than one dream. And for good reason, three times a week, the centenarian even gives yoga classes in a room in her village. A discipline that she discovered late, when she was around fifty years old. “A friend was doing it and introduced me to this sport. I liked it straight away. I like serenity, calm“, she told the media Le Berry Républicain.

After ten years of practice, she trained to teach in her own school. Forty years later, the charm remains intact and Charlotte Chopin can even boast of having loyal students for all these years. His leitmotif? Continue to move but adapt the practice to your abilities. She admits to herself that she has never succeeded in certain very difficult postures. The important thing for her remains to stretch the body and feel well-being both in her head and in her body. The success is such that interviews with Charlotte Chopin flourish (in France and abroad), and she is invited by brands to give lessons.

But yoga is not the only habit which allows the Frenchwoman to also stay in shape. Indeed, Charlotte Chopin also has a few rituals from which she never deviates. The first of them? A balanced diet. No question here of a drastic diet, but rather of a simple and healthy diet: soup, yogurt, tofu, vegetables, fruit and cheese. For breakfast, she opts for coffee and bread with butter and honey.

His second non-negotiable? Daily walks. Every morning, she goes for a walk before tending to her garden. Walking strengthens muscles and improves balance, thus drastically reducing the risk of falls among seniors. It also protects bones against osteoporosis and gently stimulates the heart, maintaining physical autonomy on a daily basis.

When asked what she thinks explains her longevity, Charlotte attributes it to one thing: finding an activity that she enjoys. “I’m lucky and I thank heaven every morning. I’m happy to be healthy, happy to be able to live at home, happy to be able to do yoga and still have classes, which always amazes me“, she told the American magazine The New York Times.
