Carla Bruni agreed to take up a challenge thrown at her by her daughter, Giulia Sarkozy. And yet, the challenge is far from obvious for the singer…
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy accepted a major challenge: her daughter, Giulia, born from her union with Nicolas Sarkozy, insisted that she give up one of her guilty pleasures. The 14-year-old made him promise not to drink a drop of alcohol for a year!
Carla Bruni promised her daughter to stop drinking alcohol: “I told myself that after a year…”
“I made a promise to my daughter who said to me: ‘Hey, don’t drink alcohol for a year’. And I said okay,” told the podcast microphone Meaning & confidences the former first lady, determined not to flinch. The 58-year-old singer even manages to find satisfaction in this challenge: “In fact, it is a great happiness. Precisely because it puts this whole alcohol thing into perspective which, obviously, is a wonderful thing but for which you have to be in moderation and which is still a slightly artificial twist“.
If she enjoys the drink, Carla Bruni admits, in front of the host Judith Beller, that she can “poison“softly and slyly:”Alcohol changes everything and is a kind of delicious indigestible poison“. But what does the mother of Giulia Sarkozy and Aurélien, 25 years old, hope to obtain, fruit of her former love with Raphaël Enthoven, at the end of this period of sobriety? “I told myself that after a year without alcohol, moderation would flow through my veins“.
Carla Bruni, full of addictions: “I can’t stop…”
The former first lady does not hide it: she has always tended to easily fall into addictions and excesses, from a very young age. “I was not supervised so from childhood, I had to drink 30 or 40 Coca Cola a day. And I didn’t eat normal meals, I only ate lozenges, 3 boxes of Valda“, she confided on the microphone of the podcast Counter-addictions. A little later, she succumbed to tobacco: “I got into tobacco very quickly around 14-15 years old, which is in my whole family, so it was easy, they couldn’t tell me anything“.
Then alcohol quickly became his favorite addiction: “The problem is that since I’m an addict, I don’t stop at sweet intoxication“But even before her daughter Giulia challenged her to sobriety, Carla Bruni had decided to slow down her alcohol consumption, this time thanks to her husband Nicolas Sarkozy. “He helps me stop because he doesn’t drink. He’s not a big fan of letting go, while me… we’re not the same prototype“, she explained. Moreover, the former model had recently launched a non-alcoholic wine from Château d’Estoublon, called L’Excessive Rosé. Enough to help her get through this year without drunkenness?
