When the heatwave sets in, this hairstyle is the easy and elegant solution to tie your hair up and stay cool.

The thermometer panics, the air becomes heavy and the slightest breeze seems like a distant memory. While we are just coming out of a grueling heatwave, summer temperatures are playing overtime and continuing to put our bodies and nerves to the test. Faced with the mirror, the dilemma quickly becomes difficult, especially for those who sport generous hair. The temptation is great to cut everything off on a whim, or on the contrary to leave your lengths free, at the risk of seeing them stick to the back of your neck from the first minutes spent outside.

However, suffering the heat with your hair blowing in the wind is not inevitable. When the mercury refuses to go down, the most effective solution to cool down is undoubtedly to tie your hair up. But be careful, it’s not a question of sacrificing them on the altar of comfort by tying them up anyhow. Forget the hasty elastic or the shapeless crab claw which sorely lacks allure in society. Raising your mane in summer is a subtle art that requires a minimum of structure to preserve the harmony of your features and assert your style, even at thirty-five degrees.

This is where the ideal hairstyle of the season comes in, the one that perfectly combines practicality and sophistication: the low bun. In periods of high heat, hairstylist Delphine Courteille reminds us that this is the best option, precisely because it is a hairstyle that knows how to be forgotten. Tied at the nape of the neck, the low bun brings together and disciplines the lengths so that they no longer stick to the skin, freeing the neck and face while offering an immediate feeling of lightness. This timeless classic also has prestigious followers, like Princess Charlene of Monaco, who made it one of her hair signatures during her official summer appearances, proving that we can defy summer temperatures with royal grace.

Beyond its comfort, the low bun seduces with its ability to enhance the silhouette. By freeing the contours of the face, it naturally draws the eye towards the features, emphasizing the finesse and highlighting the oval. It is also the ideal ally for the most fluid summer outfits: combined with a long dress or a scoop neckline, it creates a clean and refined look, just as suitable on the beach as for a dinner on the terrace.

To achieve this look without apparent effort, the secret finally lies in the preparation of the hair. Delphine Courteille recommends pouring a few drops of dry oil onto the lengths just before tying the hair: this simple gesture is enough to make it shinier, more supple and perfectly disciplined, while avoiding the foamy effect induced by ambient humidity. Enough to get through the summer with freshness and elegance as a bonus.
