Amel Bent, who is celebrating her 20th career by performing on the beach at Sciez in Haute-Savoie this July 30, grew up without a father. Her parents separated when she was two years old. But that didn’t stop the performer from My Philosophy to build his own cocoon with Patrick Antonelli, who has shared his life since 2015.

Together, they had three children: Sofia, Hana and Zayn. An accomplishment for the 41-year-old singer for whom “family” has not always rhymed with “happiness”. At the microphone of YouTuber Shera, in her podcast Beep Soundshe also indulged in intimate confidences. To answer the question “Is love enough?”title of this episode, the mother returned to one of her most painful memories, her “first heartbreak“. “I said to myself ‘actually, even my mother’s love is not going to be enough for me’, I was eight years old”she first confided.
Her mother began dating her stepfather when Amel Bent was 5 years old. And the young girl immediately got along well with him: “He was crazy about me, I was crazy about him and I even called him dad. But when my little sister was born, I saw the love he had for her. And that’s the day I saw that he wasn’t my dad.”. And to the old coach of The Voice to add, very moved: “In fact, I felt that I was not loved the way he loved her. It was the greatest, the first pain of my life”.
Amel Bent: this “original pain” which took her away from her family
“My mother was trying to balance, but you can’t pretend”then detailed Amel Bent. “Maybe because I was hyper sensitive, maybe I perceived something that was perhaps not perceptible to others, but for me it was an explosion”. A real heartbreak that took her away from her family: “That was my original pain (…) I stopped calling him dad but out of empathy, to not hurt him, I no longer called him at all. To not hurt him, I no longer called him”.
The one that France discovered thanks to The New Star therefore withdrew into herself in silence, before finally turning to singing. “I became a stranger in our house… And that’s how I started singing, out of boredom, out of loneliness”she told Shera Kerienski.
