The aftermath of the party is often synonymous with fatigue, and the cleaning that follows doesn’t help matters. Don’t panic! Here are our tips for getting your interior back in order easily and quickly.
If you like to entertain your friends and party all night, it is clear that putting everything back in order the next day is much less enjoyable. Messy dirty dishes, spilled wine glasses, crushed food, not to mention the smell of tobacco… In a word, your interior has everything of a real battlefield. We will therefore have to roll up our sleeves and get down to cleaning.
In what order should you proceed for efficient cleaning?
To avoid spending hours putting everything back together, it’s better to get organized. Go around the rooms and always start with the dirtiest and most obvious before you worry about the details. Also advance room by room, attacking the one that hosted the biggest festivities (generally the living room), before moving on to the kitchen, then the bathroom and, if necessary, the bedroom(s). It’s also time to open the windows to ventilate and chase away bad odors.
- Start with collect the bottles lying around and glass for recycling.
- Then equip yourself with large trash bags and throw away the waste forgotten here and there by your guests (leftover food, cups, paper plates, paper napkins, cigarette butts, etc.).
- Then pick up the dirty dishes and put it in the dishwasher if you have one, otherwise put it to soak in the sink.
- Also gather the dirty laundry (tablecloths, napkins, tea towels, etc.) and start a machine.
- Then clean the top of furniturewithout forgetting the chair covers or sofa cushions.
- Vacuumand, once everything is finished, a good mop.
An accident quickly happens during an evening and the first victims of stains are often furniture, carpets or sofas which end up with traces of grease or even wine. Don’t panic, you can still recover them using these tips on a case-by-case basis.
Cleaning wine stains from fabrics
The day after the evening, the wine stains that decorate your carpet, your sofa or your tablecloth will undoubtedly have had time to dry. To eliminate them, use a little white vinegar mixed with sparkling water and gently rub the fabric with a clean cloth until they disappear. You can also sprinkle baking soda on stainsleave to act for at least 1 hour, brush then vacuum. Repeat if necessary.
If the stain is still fresh, absorb the liquid. Pour in flour, talcum powder or even salt and leave to act. When the powder has “drank” the color, remove the excess and start again as many times as necessary.
Cleaning grease stains from fabrics
Here too, you have to absorb the fat. Sprinkle talcum powder on your stained carpet or sofa, or from the land of Sommières on more delicate fabrics and leave for at least 1 hour. Then gently brush the fabric and vacuum up the powder. Eliminate the rest of the stain using a little Marseille soap, ideal for degreasing. Rinse well and let dry.
Cleaning stains on furniture tops
On a glass surfacea wipe with a sponge and window cleaner is generally enough to remove glass imprints or splashes. If the marks are stubborn, rub them with a little white vinegar and wipe with a clean cloth.
On a varnished wooden piece of furnitureavoid products that are too aggressive which could scratch it. Scrub the stain thoroughly with a little soapy water and a smooth sponge. Rinse and dry.
On a polished wooden piece of furniturechoose fatty agents which will preserve the wax layer. You can use linseed oil, for example, by rubbing the stain with small circular movements using a clean, soaked cloth. If it is really too encrusted, you can also lightly sand the damaged surface before reapplying one or two coats of wax to the area thus stripped.
Spilled glasses, crumbs of all kinds, sauces, sweets, coffee… The evening left its mark. After vacuuming, dilute a little black soap or Marseille soap in a bucket of hot water and pass it through mop on your tiles or linoleum. Since waxed parquet doesn’t like water, use a slightly damp sponge to clean any sticky marks. You can also apply a little linseed oil to your wooden floor.which will protect it from future attacks. Finally, if you have carpet, sprinkle some baking soda, let it sit then vacuum it up.
The first thing to do is of course to ventilate the rooms thoroughly. To absorb the odors of the evening, you can also pour white vinegar into the bottom of a bowl and leave it in the room overnight. You can also use essential oils to deodorize and purify the air. In a liter of water, pour 5 to 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and spray this mixture in your interior. If tobacco odors have also permeated your fabrics (sofa, cushions, curtains, etc.), washing what can be washed in the washing machine is the safest way to get rid of them. To freshen up a carpet or sofa, you can also sprinkle baking sodaleave for one or two hours, brush then vacuum. An unstoppable technique for neutralizing bad odors.
