Many people probably do it already, but is it enough to prevent mold from training at home? We light your lantern.
Records in recent months have led to a sharp increase in mold in France. According to work.com, 21 % of French people find an increase in the problem, mainly affecting young households (26 % of 18-34 year olds against 12 % of the over 55s). Present in all types of accommodation, mold is often due to poor ventilation and can become persistent. Beyond its aesthetic impact and the real estate devaluation it leads to, it represents a danger to health by releasing harmful substances.
The humidity is sneaky and can be hidden everywhere, it is therefore necessary to open the eye and the good. Starting with a scrupulous inspection of your home, in search of wetlands, not enough or badly ventilated, even exposed to water infiltrations: ceilings under the roof and bottom of the walls, on the ground floor in particular. Once the source of the problem has been identified, it is necessary to treat mold without delay before it does more damage.
But beyond curative treatment, a simple solution makes it possible to avoid its appearance. It comes straight from Germany and it is the Stoßlüftenor “shock ventilation”. A technique which consists in opening all the windows of the accommodation several times a day, over a short duration, whatever the weather! In winter, count 5 to 10 minutes of ventilation each time, up to 15 in spring and fall, and about 30 minutes in summer. What improve air circulation, limit condensation and prevent mold, while cleaning up indoor air. Combined with Querluften – which aims to create an air current by opening opposite windows and doors – its efficiency is reinforced.
Adopting these German methods limit excessive humidity and clean up air easily, without effort or expensive equipment. A good habit to take or strengthen, simple and effective for your home and for you too!
