Initially, this kitchen – could we really call it that? – was painful to see. It was not at all adapted to the needs of its new owner, Éléonore. This is why Little Worker intervened and the result leaves no one indifferent.
Transforming an old caretaker’s lodge into a decorative cocoon, warm and optimized as desired: this is the challenge brilliantly taken up by interior designer Little Worker. From the custom-made staircase – a true centerpiece concealing 1001 storage spaces – to the sleeping area nestled on the mezzanine, every square centimeter has been designed to maximize space without sacrificing style. The result? A very functional place where everything inspires. Welcome to Éléonore!
It is not far from the dynamic Montparnasse station, in a quiet street in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, that this gem is hidden. Nestled on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard of a beautiful building dating from 1850, this characterful space had undeniable potential, but required a serious makeover. The objective was clear: to breathe modernity and clarity into this old lodge while respecting the soul of the place. Thanks to a well-designed glass roof and a choice of bright colors, the bet is successful.
Located in a recess of the lodge, the period kitchenette looked gloomy. Comprised of the bare essentials – a small student refrigerator, a sink, two hotplates and some storage space – it was dilapidated and Éléonore could not see herself keeping it as it was.
After the Little Worker teams visited, the kitchen area is finally worthy of the name. Slipped under the mezzanine, which now accommodates the young woman’s bed, it comes to us from IKEA, facades with a marble effect worktop. Well hidden, there is a microwave, a refrigerator and even a washing machine, conveniently slipped to the left of the sink. Under the stairs, there are large full-height cupboards which provide clear space.
To achieve such an architectural feat in record time (2 months of construction, no more) and with a controlled budget (28,000 euros excluding tax – including the installation of new high-performance windows and the installation of the IKEA kitchen), we can say without blushing that the teams were able to demonstrate ingenuity, in particular by combining tailor-made and accessible solutions.
