At Zara, certain pieces seduce at first glance but can quickly become a bad fashion investment.

Every season, Zara launches dozens of new products that attract fashion enthusiasts. Trendy dresses, impeccably cut pants, runway-inspired jackets… the Spanish brand has become a reference for those who want to follow trends without blowing their budget. However, not all purchases are equal. Certain pieces are immediately attractive in stores or in the photos on the site, but turn out to be much less practical once worn on a daily basis.

Zara is the undisputed king of trendy fast fashion. The brand excels at copying runway silhouettes and making them accessible. To maximize the “high-end” aspect, the fashion giant uses a formidable marketing trick: accessorizing the garment directly on the hanger. The problem ? To keep prices low while adding a bonus element, drastic concessions must be made on quality. If you go for these pieces thinking of saving time and money, you are likely to be disappointed after the first fitting at home or after the first wash.

Whether it’s a trench coat, tailored pants or a dress, clothing sold with a built-in (or provided) belt is the worst investment you can make at Zarawarns Salomé Sitruk, fashion influencer. Why is this a bad idea? The belt provided automatically is almost always the weak link in the garment. Designed inexpensively to dress the model, it instantly spoils the potential of the main piece. While the fabric of the pants or dress may be of decent quality, the integrated belt often betrays a cruel lack of quality: rigid imitation leather that peels or cracks after two wears, lightweight plastic buckles disguised as gold metal that loses its color, ultra-fragile cotton thread belt loops that break at the slightest movement…

An integrated belt also imposes a unique waist height. However, we all have busts and waists of different lengths. Result: the belt is often positioned too high or too low, creating unsightly folds and ruining the initial cut of the garment. LStyle professionals recommend opting instead for models with clean lines to which you can add the belt of your choice. This solution offers more freedom, makes it easy to renew an outfit and extends the life of the piece.

Before you go for your next purchase from Zaraso take a few seconds to check if the belt is actually removable. A detail that may seem trivial today, but which will make all the difference in your wardrobe tomorrow.
