If you are used to dropping off a loved one at Orly airport by car, prepare to change your plans. Groupe ADP plans to revolutionize access to drop-off facilities. What this means for your next plane trips.

Flying from Orly airport often involves well-established logistics: booking your flight, preparing your luggage, and above all organizing your journey to the terminals. For many travelers, being dropped off by a loved one by car remains the most reassuring solution before departure. “I’m always afraid of going by transport to the airport and being stuck between two metro stations. And it’s not always practical with our suitcases… I prefer the comfort of the car”, confides Séverine, 38, used to flights from Orly. But this option, widely favored by air passengers, could soon become much more restrictive for those who choose this Paris airport.

Indeed, faced with the constant increase in the number of passengers at Orly (32.4 million in 2023, 38.2 million expected in 2030), Groupe ADP has decided to completely rethink the airport’s road access. The objective is to streamline traffic around the platform, which is often saturated during rush hours, while encouraging the use of public transport. Concretely, this means the end of a well-established habit for many travelers: the drop-off located at the foot of the terminals will no longer be accessible to private vehicles. Only taxis, VTCs and people with reduced mobility will still be able to drop off or pick up passengers there. For others, you will have to adapt to a new way of working.

Motorists wishing to accompany a loved one will now go to the future drop-off facility set up to the north of the airport, along the economic car park. Once the traveler is dropped off, they will have to take a free shuttle for approximately 3.6 kilometers to reach the terminals. According to ADP, the journey should take around fifteen minutes maximum, with a bus every four minutes during peak times.

A second option will be offered to the south, on the Essonne side, with a car park with 800 spaces connected to the terminals by another shuttle. Work on this vast project, estimated at 460 million euros, should begin at the end of 2026 for gradual commissioning between 2029 and 2030. Until then, a public consultation is open until February 24: this is the opportunity for users to give their opinion on this project which will profoundly change their travel habits.
