In a small space like this, it’s not always easy to demarcate the entrance. However, this is the challenge that Stéphanie Le Rouzic took on and the result will amaze more than one person.
Head to the 1st floor of a residence from the 80s in Bandol. This 24 m² has become the playground of interior designer Stéphanie Le Rouzic, founder of the Mars Avril agency. A fan of her work, the owner naturally turned to her and it did her a lot of good!
Initially, the dated decoration exasperated this couple from Bouches-du-Rhône, then close to retirement. Their wish? Modernity, putting an end to the somewhat cliché seaside style, and reconfiguring poorly arranged spaces. They dreamed of a real isolated room, the comfort of a large apartment (washing machine and dishwasher included), and a real dining area for entertaining. “They wanted to have fun, knowing that they were going to spend a lot more time there”recalls the interior designer.
To transform this pied-à-terre, Stéphanie Le Rouzic has redoubled her ingenuity: “It’s my Tetris project!”she laughs. After a light patching on the original tiling, a superb waxed concrete by Ad Astra was poured on the floor. On the walls, pure white serves as a backdrop to a soft, subtly Japanese atmosphere. The stroke of genius? Designed like a cabin, the couple’s bedroom rises on a platform, hiding valuable built-in storage.
As soon as the threshold was crossed, there was no entrance strictly speaking: a simple airlock projected the visitor directly into the heart of the matter, into the heart of the main room.
Gone are the outdated cupboard doors that previously welcomed the couple and make way for pretty curtains sewn by the owner herself. In addition to being beautiful, they cleverly hide the water heater and washing machine. On the floor, the polished concrete and its coconut milk shade immediately sets the tone for a careful decoration down to the smallest detail.
On the kitchen side, Stéphanie Le Rouzic opted for an IKEA base enhanced by okoumé wood facades. Only the high boxes have been custom designed to blend ideally into the decor. This smooth project was masterfully carried out by the Renoov company, supported by the talent of Mr. Rozé, the cabinetmaker from Marseille who is behind all the custom joinery A small space with big ideas!
