On July 25, Marie-Paule Belle died after a long and discreet battle with breast cancer. Before her death, the 80-year-old artist spoke about her vision of the afterlife and the mark she would leave after her death…

The singer and pianist Marie-Paule Belle died at the age of 80 following a recurrence of breast cancer on July 25. The artist, who had already come close to death several times in recent years, had made moving confessions about the end of her life…

Marie-Paule Belle, her vision of the afterlife: “When the time comes, I aspire to…”

In an interview given in 2023 to the Canadian blog News WordsMarie-Paule Belle spoke about death, without hiding her most intimate convictions. Spiritual, the interpreter of The Parisian was convinced that something awaited her after her death. “I believe that, in the same way that an ocean is made of a multitude of drops of water, after death we will find the people we loved in the form of an absolute and not individual love. That is in any case my opinion”she explained.

Before continuing: “I think that we absolutely cannot imagine or conceive the spiritual dimension that we will discover at that moment”. Moreover, in the official press release announcing his death, his teams made a point of recalling: “Marie-Paule had great spirituality and a strong feeling of eternal life. Rest assured, that where she is now, she receives all your love”.

Affected by cancer for many years, Serge Lama’s sister simply wanted to die in peace. “I just hope not to suffer, I know it well, I don’t want to experience that… But when the time comes I very much aspire to know this state of spirituality, of absolute love, I believe in it a lot, it’s my faith“, she added.

Marie-Paule Belle: “I think we won’t write anything after my death”

Also interviewed by News Words on what people would say about her after her death, Marie-Paule Belle was humble: “You know, people just pass through. Once they’re gone we forget them pretty quickly… I don’t think we’ll write anything…”. She still ended up adding: “We will perhaps remember ‘La Parisienne’, and even then, it will be dated. If people remember me, they will perhaps say that I sang pretty songs that tell stories”.

A few days after his death, his brother, Jean-Michel, modestly spoke in the columns of Nice-Morningrevealing that her sister had planned a farewell concert on October 4, which she unfortunately did not have time to honor. “She had less of this sacred desire to go on stage. She told us that she was going to say goodbye, even if we didn’t want to believe it (…) Moreover, she had titled her last recital ‘Goodbye and thank you’. It’s quite premonitory…”he said. Before concluding: “It was to be his last concert”.
