Hospital, clinics… What is the best health establishment for treatment? Answer in the new edition of the traditional “Hospitals and clinics rankings” of Le Point.

Like every year, the Point rankings are eagerly awaited by patients, families and caregivers. The 2025 edition is based on an exceptional base: nearly 29.7 million anonymized medical records analyzed, and the responses of more than 1,100 establishments to a very detailed questionnaire. Enough to provide a precise overview of the healthcare system, taking into account not only medical results, but also internal organization, the presence of specialized personnel, clinical research and even the quality of therapeutic education programs.

“In a context where the health system is under pressure, this ranking highlights the resilience and excellence of the teams who, every day, innovate for the health of the French people” comments Gwendoline Dos Santos, author of the survey. “It offers citizens clear guidelines to navigate a complex healthcare system and identify the establishments most invested in the quality of care.” So, what is the best hospital in France? Audience ? Private ? The best clinic?

According to the ranking established by Le Point, it is the Toulouse University Hospital which stands out, once again this year, as the best hospital in France. The establishment occupies first place in the public sector, followed by the Bordeaux University Hospital and the Lille University Hospital. The list also highlights the rapid progress of several regional hospitals: La Roche-sur-Yon gains ten places and Valenciennes nine, developments rare enough to be highlighted.

In the private (non-profit) sector, Paris Saint-Joseph Hospital maintains its first position and rises to 13th place in the general ranking. In terms of private establishments, the Reims-Bezannes Polyclinic comes first, ahead of Santé Atlantique in Saint-Herblain and the Ambroise-Paré–Hartmann group in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The 2025 edition also introduces several new features. The classification now distinguishes mastectomies with or without immediate reconstruction in breast cancer, takes into account all lung cancer treatments, includes maxillofacial reconstructions in ENT and creates a classification dedicated to pediatric pulmonology. Mental health also benefits from increased focus, with four rankings devoted to depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and post-traumatic stress.

Through these developments, the ranking aims to be a transparent and accessible tool, allowing patients to find their way in a complex health system. The entire ranking is available to Point.fr subscribers and on newsstands, from December 4 at the price of 8.90 euros.
